More Things I Wish I Had Learned Sooner.

One of my mothers favorite things to say was "live and learn," and I hope I have. One thing I have learned is that there are some things I wish I had learned sooner.....

How to take a compliment.

Being kind matters more than than being right.

If someone takes something out of the refrigerator and says, "smell this," don't!

That a healthy looking suntan is not really so healthy.

The person I least expect might someday be my best friend. Give everyone a chance.

People will still be nice to me, even if I'm not wearing any make-up.

It is sometimes okay to let someone do more for me  than I can ever possibly repay.

The difference between good fats and bad fats.

I really shouldn't put metal in the microwave.

Whatever I think kids know, they always know way more than I think they know.

If I've forgotten some one's name, it is okay to ask.

It isn't always my fault.

There are some people with whom I will never be totally comfortable.

Wasting time isn't always a waste of time.

Another one of my mother's favorite things to say was "pretty is as pretty does." There's a lot of learning in those few words.

I posted part of this a looong time ago, but I keep learning more things I wish I had learned sooner.

  1. Girl you are so right! I think I've learned all of those the hard way. Especially the one about the metal in the microwave. LOL. I tagged you for a game on my post for tomorrow.

  3. I still struggle with "people will still be nice to me, even if I'm not wearing any make-up", even though I quit wearing it five years ago when I started sitting the grandsons! Photos of my recent visit with Dana had me thinking "where's your make-up? what were you thinking?", as I look old, washed out, and haggard! But she obviously didn't notice or say anything, and WAS nice to me! Aren't we women silly sometimes!

  4. Yep, your Mama was a wise woman. I think a lot of these come with age. Oops did I type that out loud???

I am a take charge do it all type chick, I still have trouble accepting help and I'd just rather not have a complement. Weird huh, they make me uncomfortable but I can sure dish them out like a side of potatoes!!!

Great post Jeanie, ya have a blessed day my friend!!!

  5. AMEN! All of those are beauties. I couldn't agree more.

And may I add one? If you're taking a nap and someone calls you on the phone waking you up and interrupting your slumber and you are dumb enough to answer... don't also be dumb enough to say "no" when they ask if they'd just woken you up. LOL. Say "yes, dammit, you did!"

    Love you Jeanie!!

  8. In my head I will forever hear: "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." Coming from wise parents who lived thru the Great Depression.

  10. Life is an ongoing education, isn't it? Seems we learn as we go.
I keep little jewels of wisdom from my mother close to my heart, too.
