Springtime In Colorado......It's Enough To Make Your Head Spin

I just read on my friend Betty's blog, A Glimpse Into Midlife about how they are just coming into fall in her part of the world in Paraguay, just as we are coming into spring where I live. At least we are supposed to be coming into spring. Our weather has been so crazy and changed so fast lately it is hard to know what season it is. Yesterday it was 85 degrees and I was wearing flip-flops and short sleeves. Today we are having a mix of rain, sleet and snow, the temperature is in the mid 30s and it is back to snow boots and coats. I shouldn't be too surprised. We have this seasonal schizophrenia nearly every year on Colorado before things finallly settle into spring and summer.

I took this picture last year, but it is very likely what things will look like tomorrow before things warm up again later in the week.

I guess I'll have to go with the plan I came up with last year.......wearing flip-flops inside my snow boots so I will be ready for anything.

  3. Seasonal schizophrenia is a good way to describe March and April and May here in this wonderful place. I got a terrible sunburn yesterday showing folks from Florida around at Red Rocks and Dinosaur Ridge and today the fire is roaring again. No place like it....wouldn't trade it for anything!

  4. This year Minnesota is sharing that seasonal schizophrenia. What a great term!

  5. Sounds like the end of our winters too. We keep having cold snaps right up till Nov. until it finally rains and turns warm.
I like your idea for being prepared for anything. :)

  6. That is quite a change from one day to the next. I love your choice of words, "seasonal schizophrenia", to describe the uncertainty of the conditions. You just might have the right idea with the flips inside the boots. With the way that mother nature is, it's best to be prepared.

  7. I like your plan! It is a good one and you are ready for whatever the weather decides to do!! I did hear Colorado got some snow and I did think of you. But like you said, these snows don't stick around very long and as long as there is a nice day or two in between them then it is reasonable and doable if it snows (just a bit)

  9. Ever the optimist, I put my boots away only to have to dig them out again. We are having the same weather as you.

  13. Here in Kansas we have had a lot of that back and worth weather too. The last few days we have had crazy wind! With all of my allergies I try to stay out of the wind...especially when the pollen counts are up.

We used to live in Colorado...and I loved it there. But we did get more snow than we get here...and I don't miss that.

But when spring does finally start to bloom it will be glorious there...as well as here. The beauty is worth the wait.

  15. Hot one day, cold and windy the next, then warm again. One day we get things done outside and then we do things inside. In a couple weeks we should have consistently warm days. Yay.

  16. I like your plan! It sure was a crazy weekend - we ate dinner outside on Saturday and ate Sunday's dinner by the fireplace! I sure hope we have a wet spring.

  17. I remember one year where we left in spring and went to Australia where they were having fall. It was the weirdest feeling. Spring is just around the corner Jeanie. I know my daughter is really wanting it badly in Chicago.
