Yes, We Do Know How To Celebrate America's Holiday

I have read on blogs and heard people talking about all the great plans people have for the 4th of July holiday weekend. People are going camping, having cook-outs, watching fireworks, going to ball games, all manner of all-American holiday fun.

Well, Doc and I know how to celebrate with the best of them, so we are ready to party on and mark the birthday of our country in a big way with a little known but dearly beloved or soon to be all-American custom of getting new toilets. Yes ma'am, our holiday celebration includes getting not one, but two of these little beauties.

I won't dwell  too much on the fact that this particular model has a very French sounding name which led me to believe that there might be a bidet involved (there's not).

This holiday extravaganza came about because the new tile in our bathrooms raised the stool just enough in one that the previously nearly inaccessible tank became completely inaccessible under the countertop.

Let the party begin!

  2. Ha! Jeanie, sounds like my kind of celebration. When I got a new toilet last summer I did a happy dance for weeks. Hopefully the installation of TWO won't take the entire weekend and you'll have time to enjoy the holiday a bit too.

And thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your thoughtful comment on my "feeling blue" post. I appreciate it so much.

    Have a great potty!

  3. Your party has lasting consequences, whereas most fourth of July parties are done and gone and over with on the fifth!!

  4. How funny! "French sounding?" I hope they both are everything you could ever want!

It shouldn't take too long to install them. Then you will be out with the kids watching fireworks!

    Enjoy the day!

  6. Everyone has already used all the potty jokes, so just let me say that one of my pet peeves about toilets is...why can't they make a toilet seat that stays looking nice? Why can't they make one that doesn't show all the pee stains on the underside, and that the paint doesn't chip off on the top side, looking like somone left a spot of poop? I'm just saying, in this day and age, couldn't they come up with something? Or wait, could that be because I buy the cheap one at Walmart? Hmmmm, maybe I should check out one of those French ones...

  8. LOL! you really do know how to celebrate! I'm sure you are right and this could be the new way to celebrate in the not too distant future. Good thing that they are available to purchase and install to ultimately use; imagine life without them!!

hope you both have a delightful Fourth!

  9. Okay, it's not exactly picnics and fireworks, but getting a new toilet can definitely be worth celebrating. We got two new ones about this time a year ago and love them....lower water use, quicker refill, and higher seating (wonderful for those of us with aging knees). Hooray!

  11. I don't envy your day. My husband just recently put in 2....one old one because of new tile and a new one in another bathroom. It's not an easy job!!

  14. When we moved into our old house, we wanted to keep as many of the old toilets as possible. They flush much better and don't get glogged as often because, of course, they use a ridiculous amount of water. Well, we've replaced 3 [out of 6] over the last 14 years. And, no matter how pretty the name or how pretty they look, they just don't flush and work as well as the old ones. Enjoy your new potty and the rest of your holiday weekend.
