Six Word Saturday

Blogger issues are driving me crazy.

A few times in the last month or so I have gotten an e-mail telling me that my blog header is only HTML code. I asked some others to look at it and it looked fine to them. Then, a couple of days ago I got an e-mail from  Jeanne at The Raisin Chronicles telling me that when she pulled up my page that it was nothing but HTML code. Again, I asked a few others to look and it looked fine to them. Argh! Now, I know I don't have a massive number of readers, but I really value the ones I do have and I would like for them to have something besides code to read when they are nice enough to stop by. My computer skills don't extend toward even having a clue about how to figure out what the problem is.

My hair pulling and head banging (not a good solution, but it was all I had) over this problem will hopefully come to an end soon. My daughters (who are probably very tired of me calling them with computer questions) gave me a blog makeover for Christmas from thedesign-house.  I don't really know what a "makeover" involves, and I like a fairly simple page, but hopefully in the next week or two I will quit looking all HTMLy to some of the people some of the time.

P.S.
Jeanne, from the Raisin Chronicles above, has been kind enough to e-mail me detailed instructions for a possible fix and offered to help me by phone if I am too techno-challenged to follow them. I will work on this later today when I have a long enough period of time to challenge the HTML gods. Thanks, Jeanne

  1. Yep, I see a big header of html too. Poor thing! This is one reason I left Blogger - too many issues I couldn't fix myself.

Hang in there... or get your own domain and never look back, like I did ;)

  2. I just see the Living Consciously with two boxes around it. Good luck finding and fixing the problem. I don't know how to fix any of that either!

  4. I don't seem to have the html problem with your blog. I can always go anywhere I want on your blog. I love your blog! I like you!

p.s. - if you figure out how to do the "domain" thing, please let me know.

  5. Merry Day-After-Christmas to you! Everything's still looking good at my end, Jeanie. You must have an alien living somewhere in your hard drive who's trying to drive you crazy. I HATE when things like this come up and I don't know the solution!! The freakiest thing I ever did was when I first began blogging and I thought I'd accidentally deleted the whole thing. A click of a button and my daughter had it fixed...phewwwww! Let's hope yours is as easy as that, too.

  6. My favorite thing to say when something doesnt work right is "I thought this technology crap was supposed to make it better, faster, more effective....not worse" Of course I'm joking and if someone unplugged me from all the technology in my life I'd lose it for sure. But I'm like you in the sense that even the little things like trying to figure out HTML become very frustrating problems. You'll love your blog make-over though, have fun with it, and be honest, if you dont like something when you first see it on your blog you probably never will. That's ok its your blog.
    Merry day after Christmas!

  7. I'm with Monica, I just see the Living Consciously. All this time I thought that WAS your header, so very simple and nice.

I do hope things get better for you. I will desert Blogger when I use up all my picture capacity. Right now I'm sittng at 60-some percent.

Happy 6WS! Happy New Year! (since I didn't get the Merry Christmas in)

  11. I feel your pain. I too only see HTML code on your header and have been using my imagination to imagine what photo you might have there.

A blog makeover sounds like a wonderful present!

  13. "hopefully in the next week or two I will quit looking all HTMLy"

    That was funny. HTMLy.

You know that I recently went through an unintended format change because of some html code problems. I finally went to the Blogger help forum and got assistance. It helped a lot and I was able to reverse my transgressions.

Just so you know, Jeanie, I've never experienced anything but pure wordy joy at Living Consciously which begs the question... is it you or is it them? When in doubt, blame the other guy. That's my motto.

Got lots of good stuff to catch up on since I've been on "Christmas vacation." Missed you lots!
