Panty Hose

You remember panty hose, those not-so-comfortable leg covering things many of us used to wear almost all the time.

Thanks to Katie Couric and a few other high profile women, wearing panty hose has become sort of an old-fashioned thing to do. Sadly, panty hose became old-fashioned at about the same time that I looked down at my legs and noticed that little place just above my knees had started to look like it needed to be ironed. That was also about the same time that I realized that those creases around my ankles caused by wearing socks were starting to take at least a half day to go away after I took the socks off. And, sadly, a good sun tan on my legs is no longer allowed. It seems panty hose went out of style just when I really needed them.

I know, I know, it is very shallow to be swayed by the dictates of fashion. I guess I shouldn't worry too much anyway.....I'm probably old enough that a fashion faux pas would not be noticed at all or would just be considered quirky. I guess for now I'll just stick to pants and those, what are they called-oh yeah, trouser socks. I just wish those things came with control tops.

  1. LOL! We were just talking about this the other day at work. My knee/trouser socks always end up around my ankles and that looks even worse. Especially since now it´s winter here, I really don´t know what to wear "sockwise".... :)

  2. LOL! Those were the days, weren't they! I'm with you...lots of pants and trouser socks. All my dresses are 3/4 length so I don't mind a little white sticking out! (All my vericose veins are up higher!!!)

This was very funny! Thanks for putting a chuckle in my day!

  3. Oh my goodness - are you saying women don't wear hose anymore - I haven't for years and was just thinking about going to get a pair tomorrow - thigh highs.

    Man I'm out of it!

    Happy 4th.

  4. Just go for the quirky, individual look and if anyone asks make them think you put together a unique look on purpose. Pantyhose are not comfortable and that puts them on the never wear list for me.

  5. I really hate panty hose. However, now that you mention it, I do have those wrinkles above the knees which aggravate me. I've taken to using capris now.

    And my socks... well...
With the Hawaiian sun, I've now got a tan only above my ankles so that when I wear sandals I still look like I'm wearing socks. Sigh.

  6. When I was a little boy, I always bought my mom panty hose as a gift. It was a safe bet because she always wore them.

  7. If we don't wear panty hose, what are we suppose to wear to make out legs look nice?

  8. I haven't worn hose for years either because I usually wear pants. In the summer, I put fake tan cream on my legs. I think rich people have their whole body sprayed.

  9. This was a funny post! I think it is so funny how much times have changed! I have a whole drawer full of panty hose, but I haven't worn any for ages!. (Oh, wait, I think I do remember wearing a pair to church last winter when I was sooo cold...and I needed them to keep my legs warm.) But it is so funny how stupid I look trying to squirm and bend and stretch to get them on! UGH! (:>)

  10. I rarely "dress" these days, but the few times I have to "dress" I always wear panty hose. It wouldn't be a pretty picture without them, LOL!

You know what I mean by dressing, as in a dress or skirt :)

    have a happy Fourth!!

  12. LOL My memories of panty hose were always related to an old UK series called 'Last of the summer wine', there was a character called Norah who ALWAYS had on baggy panty hose!

  14. Haven't worn them in a while. They were kind of nice to cover up the flaws. I still see tights in the winter, though. Thank goodness for small favors!

  15. I was so glad when our workplace allowed us not to wear pantyhose. It was too much to deal with pantyhose and hot flashes! At least it wasn't a girdle and stockings!

Nowdays anything goes mate, so if you want to wear them there is no reason why you shouldn't!

  17. You hit the nail on the head with this post! I think I must have a love/hate relationship with pantyhose also. You are right. Just as they go out of style, I really need them. LOL
