Oh No! I Think I Am Becoming A Stage Grandmom

I spent a lot of time watching my grandkids perform last week, so I fear I may be becoming a stage grandmom. My biggest clue is that it is really fun for me to watch them perform. My three oldest grandkids participated in Poetry Jamm at their school on Wednesday night.

Justin, 7, recited a poem about noses. He did a great job, but it was really all about the glasses with the fake nose for him.

My grandson, Jared , (on the left) and his friend Gabe, both 10, were a real hit with the audience with their original poem An Ode To Duct Tape which was recently featured on the popular website Ducttapeguys.com

My grandaughter Hope, 8, (on the right) had her opening performance as Annie on Saturday, which required her to leave this fun Girl Scout sleepover early on Friday night. She was a good sport about it and did a great job in two shows on Saturday. In a very un-stage grandmom move, I didn't get any pictures.

My 3 year old grandaughter, E.J. did not appear on stage this week, but this girl does like to have her picture taken. She rallied during a middle of the night visit to urgent care on Friday night to show off her urgent care popsicle. She was diagnosed with pneumonia so she didn't get to go to Hope's play on Saturday. I stayed with her while the rest of her family went to the 2nd show. It was so hard holding her and watching her take shallow little breaths between coughs. (She went back to the doctor for a re-check today and seems to be doing better.)

Hope's play runs through March 12, so I'm sure I will attend another performance or two and in true stage grandmom fashion I will take lots of pictures.

  1. Oh, I am so sorry about E.J. I'm glad she is a bit better and hope she is all well soon. Pretty exciting for Hope to be the star of Annie.
We granparents do keep busy, don't we?

  4. You have very talented grandchildren. I´m sure it has something to do with the good genes they inherited from their grandparents. :) Right?
I hope EJ is feeling better and can go see her sister perform too.

  6. Oh how I would love to be in your shoes! My daughter was involved in theatre at school last year, so I was able to play stagemom for a short time!

I wish for a speedy recovery for EJ. Those short breaths are so hard for us to take!

Glad for you to be so involved with them right now!

That is so scary about your little one having pneumonia. It must have broke your heart. My 3 year old was here tonight and grade in the bathroom..i rushed in as grandmothers are known to do....she said My butt cheek hurts. It was all chapped and red. Of course grammy had to find some special lotion to apply (o:
Have you heard that commercial about whopping cough ... where the baby coughs then totally gasps for breath. Man that is hard to hear. I pray she gets better real fast.

  9. Poor E.J.! Tlad you were there to be able to help care for her; it is always so hard when they are young and sick like that. WTG on the other performers in your family! Lots of talent there I do believe!! I think it is great to be proud of them and their achievements and to be able to also be there to watch them perform as you can :)

  13. Love the glasses and the idea the kids had so much fun performing poetry-- it's a great way to introduce it to them.

Your an awesome grandma attending their programs. I sure they love having you there cheering them on.
