Friday Fragments/Freewheeling Friday

Lately it seems like any blog mojo I ever had has been absent. I love reading what others have to say, but actually writing something myself just hasn't been happening very often. I started blogging as a way to help me notice and remember the little events and activities of my family that make up my life. While I am looking for my mojo Friday Fragments is great way to empty my head.

My 4 year old granddaughter, EJ, had her recital for her tap dancing class recently. She was a little nervous as she practiced her pose for the end of the dance before the recital.

She made it on stage and did great, even though she forgot her pose at the end.

My 11 year old grandson, Jared, has figured out that being a waiter is not a good future career choice as he served breakfast to a large crowd at a fundraiser for his baseball team. He never did figure out how to serve a cup of coffee without burning his hand.

We had a couple of weeks of really windy weather. The wind was strong enough to blow fences down and uproot trees. The only good thing the wind did was melt our leftover snow and leave us with a week of beautiful spring weather. Winter is probably not totally gone for us but it sure has been nice to have a week of sunshine and 70s.

I guess even the "keep out" signs that kids put on their bedroom doors have gone high tech. I had to laugh at this one on the bedroom door of my 9 year old granddaughter, Hope. It is a little hard to see in the picture, but apparently it requires an electronic card for entry.

Now I am off to work on learning to take better pictures and to see if I can locate my blog mojo.

  1. Your grandkids are so cute! I never could have waited tables either. And I know what you mean about the blogging mojo...it seems to go on vacation periodically for me, too. Maybe spring will revive it!

  4. Whew, I sure hope the tree missed all of the house!!!

I bet your sweet little EJ did a great job...an applause at the end 'ill make a four year old princess forget her pose! I'm glad we got to see it.

Tell Jared not to feel bad...I can't serve up a hot drink without burnin' my hands either! Heeehehehe!

God bless ya girl and have a grand weekend.

I've been workin' outside instead of bloggin'...it's that time of year.

  5. That must have been so really strong winds to topple that tree! Thankful no one got hurt by it! Too cute with EJ and her dance recital; I liked the picture of her practicing her pose; how funny she forgot it though :) Four years old is such a great year as you know, I'm sure she is so much fun to be around! WTG for Jared though trying to be a waiter and participating in the fundraising; sounds like a good fundraiser too! Loved Hope's entrance system into her room, very creative!!

Good that you had some warm temps to remind you that spring and summer are on their way!

None of my kids ever put signs on their doors to keep out or whatever!

  7. Those are exactly the reason I decided to keep my blog going. I am still hoping there are some weddings in my/our future and I want to add them to my blog. And of course grand kids. Love the stories you tell of yours, they are just too cute.

I hate hate hate strong winds and I´m glad nothing bad happened to your house. Hope the weather stays warm for you!

  8. Those were great grand kid stories. Thanks for sharing. BTW, I did the same thing as a young ball player and I made really good money in tips in college, so he can be taught.

  10. That's some serious March wind! My blog mojo is missing as well but I still like to visit others and see what they are up to. The kids are adorable.

  11. Hi Jeanie, Let's enjoy our balmy weather while it lasts - I hear a storm is on the way. Snow is melting rapidly here in the high country, too. What a sweet little dancer! Good that your grandson has some first hand (pun intended) experience so he'll apply himself in different directions for a career choice!

  12. Little EJ is a doll - love her pose!! When you're that cute all you have to do is "show up"...I have hot drinks, coffee, cocoa, etc. I could never be a waiterr/waitress either. I'm waaay to scatter-brained for such!

  13. Your little grand daughter is a sweetie...what an adorable pose! That tree, goodness, so sad it didn't sustain the wind! It is lovely. Hey, dont' give yourself such a hard time about writing...take what is in your heart.

  15. What a cute pose! Hope that wasn't your tree. I sure dislike the wind, but have enjoyed the weather the past week.

  16. I love EJ's pose. Too bad she forgot to do it. She is adorable! I'm having a hard time getting to my blog reading with my son and partner with us. We're trying to maximize our time with them since we don't know when we'll see them again. That Keep Out sign is hilarious.

  17. These are really fun photos. I like the pose even if she forgot when she was on stage.
I don't know how an 11 year old can make coffee without the burn anyway.

That looks like a large tree on its side in the photo. Did you have over 60 mph winds?

I wonder what it is that the kids want their signs on their bedroom doors. Personalizing? Ownership? Anyway, my grandkids do that too.

  18. "Insert card below." I love that! My granddaughters did the same thing and I remember my brother, sister and me doing it too when we did have our own bedrooms. EJ looks adorable, what a sweetie pie. Poor Jared and the coffee. I've heard the wind has been bad in different places. It has been okay here.

  19. Goodness. Was that uprooted tree in your yard? I hope not.

I loved the creative sign your granddaughter made for her door. The notices they make to those seeking entry into their worlds certainly do speak to the time in which they live. Love it!

  20. High five to EJ on her dance recital. A hundred years ago I taught kids her age how to tap dance. It was a blast.

As for blog mojo-- I sure know THAT feeling. Hang in there. Surely it'll be back soon (fingers crossed)

  24. The kids are just adorable. I love the door sign. My sister was one who was always putting up a sign and putting her name on things..was tough sharing a room with her.
