This Post Should Be......

Since I haven't posted for a while this post should be a nice long catch-up post about the fun things I have been doing but it isn't ....because I haven't been doing anything, at least not anything fun to write about. I stepped out of retirement for a bit and I have been working for the past 2 1/2 weeks which left me so worn out at the end of each day that I didn't have the energy to do anything but recoup and get ready to go back the next day.

Working for a while wasn't too bad except for the stress over things about which I had no control, having to be up and out early every morning and being tied to an office all day. All in all, it served to remind me why retirement is a really good thing.

My daughters and their families apparently know how to have fun better than I do. They have gone to Arizona to find some spring for their Spring Break. (It snowed here yesterday).  In addition to fun at the pool they will attend some Rockies spring training games.

It was still warm enough for the kids to swim at 8:00 last night.

Dodger seemed to think it was fun to sit for nearly an hour watching a squirrel in a tree.

Brave boy that he is, when it finally came down he just watched it as it scampered away.

So, I am back to being retired and looking for fun. Well, except that I have agreed to work 1/2 day a week for the next few months. Hopefully I can handle that  a little better.

  1. Hi Jeanie, I'm going to AZ for my "spring break", too, and I can't wait! We also got snow yesterday, so skiing was fun today - 3 of my Grands are here on their break. After they leave, the next group come - I'll be kinda dazed like Dodger when they all leave! Can't believe you agreed to go back to work - what were you thinking?

  2. Nothing like working to appreciate not working!

  3. Glad to hear you are back into retirement! Looks like the kids are having fun -- and Dodger looks like he's having a blast, too! Boy, that's serious concentration! Well, I'm glad you are back because I'm always happy to see what you're up to! And you shouldn't say it's nothing -- because work is most DEFINITELY something!

  4. Hi, Jeanie! Welcome back to blogging and retirement, dear friend. The half day per week you've agree to work will be much more reasonable than a full time schedule and will be just enough to remind you how great it is to spend your days doing the things you most enjoy. I loved these pictures of Dodger. My dog Toto used to become mesmerized by squirrels. Dodger is such a handsome fellow and I know you treasure every day you have with him.

    Have a great week, Jeanie!

  6. I know what you mean about being so tired at the end of the day, and then feeling guilty for not blogging. I've been trying to organize my time so that I can at least get a quickie in! Glad to see you back. Dodger looks so handsome and in deep thought!

  7. There is nothing like going back to work to remind you why you retired. I remember when I retired, a friend reminded me that work is so every day. That it is. I wondered where you had been.

Dodger is such a good boy. Boston would not have been sitting there behaving so well if he were off leash and looking at a squirrel. Dodger is also a handsome boy.

I hope the kids have a great break.

  8. Half an hour a week doesn't seem to bad. I had to laugh about Dodger. I can't imagine Koda just patiently sitting there, he'd be barking and pacing and chasing after the squirrel if it got out of the tree. Spending spring break in Arizona sounds like a great thing for your daughters and their families!

  9. A little over a year ago the local bank called me to see if I wanted to come to work. I thought about it for about five seconds. No, no, no, no! I am so blessed that I do not "have to" work and pray that my situation will not drastically change and cause me to consider ever being a banker again. How in the world can you do it? Oh I ache for you.

  10. That's awful. I don't think I could ever go back to work in a law office or a library. Too much stress.
Those photos of your family and dog are so cute. They made me smile.

  11. I've been retired for almost a year now and I don't think I could ever go back to a full-time job. I have days when I would like to be a little more productive, but I really have no desire to return to the office environment.

  12. Just can't get the "hang" of retirement, eh? Well, at least working half days shouldn't wear you out so much, and maybe you'll be able to wean yourself away from the workplace and ease back into retirement again. My hubby has been retired for more than a dozen years, and we always say we have no idea how he ever found time to work...
