Friday Fragments/Freewheeling Friday

To participate in Friday Fragments visit here.

I don't have a lot of news (well, not any really) to catch up on, unless going to work, going to kid's school programs and plays and trying to get ready for Christmas is news. They are all good things and it has been a good and busy week. Here is a little of what has been bouncing around in my head during the week's activities.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It seems like I send fewer Christmas cards every year, which means that I will probably start getting fewer every year. I can remember my parents sending hundreds of Christmas cards each year. I do like getting cards from friends and family and I even like the Christmas letters that people send, though I have never written one myself. I especially like the cards with family pictures that so many people send these days. If  I failed to get a card to you this year, oops and Merry Christmas.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I borrowed this conversation between my daughter, Joanna, and her 3 year old daughter, EJ, from Joanna's Facebook page.

EJ : Mom, everyone is a grandkid to God, but I don't know who could be his wife. (Pause, deep thinking)
Mary, I guess.

Joanna: I thought Mary was Joseph's wife.

EJ:  Oh yeah, if Mary was God's wife, that would be a bummer for Joseph.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I have posted this before, maybe just last year, but I really like the "sentiment" that a friend sent to me in a Christmas card. I couldn't agree more about now.
Christmas comes but once a year
And when it comes it brings good cheer
The reason that it brings good cheer
Is that it comes but once a year.
Suppose it happened once a week.
I'd be too tired to write or speak.
But struggling with it one time yearly
I've still got strength to say sincerely
Merry Christmas
  2. We were laughing about not getting any Christmas cards this year. It is really funny. If you don´t send any (like me this year) you really don´t get much. LOL!
    I just didn´t need the extra pressure and if people don´t want to send a card, that´s fine too. I will celebrate Christmas just as happy. ;)
  3. LOL....that FB conversation was a hoot.
    And cards? I only send out to immediate family any more. The rest, if I have time, receives an e-card. What the heck? At least they know I'm thinking of them, right?
    Yes, Virginia is my link for Mall Fragments this week. I do hope you may find some time to visit?!!!
  4. I used to hand make a lot of Christmas things, from cards to ornaments, but then motherhood took over.
    Now that she's old enough, I hope to inspire my daughter's help!
    Merrily,
  5. I like that Christmas sentiment! Merry Christmas to you and your family too Jeanie!
    I bet the grandkids' school programs are fun to go to. Hubby was helping out at a middle school one last night for band. I went to listen. I was amazed how well the kids sounded especially for some of the groups they had just started to play an instrument when school started.
    My mom would send out a lot of cards too but mainly because we lived far away from family. I send less and less these days; I think I sent about six so far this year.
    I hope you have a good weekend!
  7. Merry Christmas to you and your whole family. I have to be honest with you - I didn't send card either - still love my friends - but I just didn't send them a card.
  8. This is the first year I haven't done Christmas cards. I kept forgetting and have been busy like everyone else. I love what your granddaughter said! I have to agree with that card. Once a year is good enough.
  10. Years ago I took the advice of all those columnists who said "simplify." I stopped writing cards. Always thought I'd get back to it, and maybe someday I will. Or not. Have a great week and a Merry Christmas.
