Mountain Time

We are heading off to the mountains this afternoon for a couple of days. No big plans, just a little get-away. We are going a little too late in the year to see the fall colors, but the mountains are beautiful at any time of the year.

Our mountains have had a lot of snow this week, the first big snowfalls of the season. I'm not a big fan of snow when it is piled up in my driveway, but fresh mountain snow is a beautiful sight to see.

A few ski areas have opened already, but since I don't yet have my legs in shape for the slopes (hahahaha, like that'll happen) I expect we will pass on that. I skied only once last year and I think I am still sore.

Since I'll be with Doc, who, shall we say, is not averse to a little gambling from time to time, I am sure we will spend time in one of our mountain casino towns. I will have to remember to pack my leopard capris.

Whatever we do, I'm looking forward to a few days away.

I hope I come back ready for work next week, if  not tanned, at least rested and ready.

  1. Have a great time. I've got to get me some of those leopard capris!!! Heeehehehe!

God bless and have a wonderful trip!!!

  2. Wow, that sounds so beautiful! Take some pictures for us, who live through others that travel. :)
I hope you have fun and win at the gambling tables. I´ve never been gambling in real life, but I´m sure I´d loose lots of money if I did. haha

  3. Good luck with the gambling. Last time my husband and I went to Cripple Creek we swore we'd never go again. Either that, or leave the debit cards at home. Those ATM machines get ya in a little trouble. (Although I'm speaking "relative" trouble; to us, if we're down $50, we're not happy.)

It's a beautiful (but chilly) day in Colorado! Enjoy it!

  4. A few days away anywhere is nice when you're getting away from it all. Enjoy.

  5. You better pack more than one pair of those capris. Better yet, pack one of those and a couple pair of nifty long johns! Our temps were 22 this morning and we expect the same tomorrow. No snow here, but plenty 15 miles away, as the crow flies.

Have a wonderful time. Be safe.....and warm!

  6. Wishing you great luck at the casinos. Not being a fan of snow myself, I think I'd spend most of my time there too :-)

  7. have a great time! sounds like a wonderful getaway! I always liked the first snow of the season and the March snows (because you knew they would soon be over, LOL :)

  8. Y'all have fun and good luck at the tables!

  9. Sounds great
Estes has a lot of Elk in town (o:
I suppose you might spend your time over in the Casino area though
    dress warm!
By the way...skiing is a thing of the past for me...torture!

  10. I laughed when I read that your legs are still sore from skiing last least you still had then both intact. I'm not sure I could boast the same thing.
But your gettaway does sound decadent and delicious!

  11. Oh, I'd love to see you in your leopard capris.

Can you believe I've never seen it snow? I've seen small patches of snow on the ground, but I've never seen a place just covered in it. Someday soon I hope.

  12. Have a great time! I love getaways!!

  13. Have a great time! Snow on the mountains is lovely.
