No Excuses

I have no excuses for ignoring my blog for the last couple of weeks, other than the fact that I have been working full time and not doing much else. Thus, this will be just a little catch-up post of mostly family fragments.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who knew there was a national Middle Child Day? It turns out that my middle child, my oldest daughter Jill, knew and thought it was a day worth celebrating with her niece and the only other middle child in our family, my 5 year old granddaughter EJ. I think it may have been an "any excuse to get ice cream" thing.
A "selfie" of Jill and EJ celebrating national Middle Child Day.
Everything seems to be all about back-to-school with my family right now. Two of my grandkids started last week, two start tomorrow and two later this week. (As an aside, I can't believe the amount of supplies that kids going to middle school are required to have.) Anyway, I did get to have a back-to-school picnic with some of my grandkids last week.
Just a few more days of summer freedom for most of these kids.
Hope, 11, with her Aunt Jill here, is the only one that is really eager for school to start.
Beck has another year before he starts pre-school, so he is happy to just keep playing baseball.
My five year old granddaughter, Anna, woke her mom up at 4:30 one morning recently saying "Mom, my heart's not beating." Fresh off of a CPR/First Aid/AED class, my DIL, Leah, fortunately knew that this was impossible.
Anna, with a fully beating heart and full of sassiness.
I saw this recently on my friend Betty's Facebook page.
I'm sure it has been all over the internet, but I love the succinct way it puts things in perspective.
  1. Right you are, dear Jeanie! Every new day that is ours to live is something for which we should all be thankful. Everything above and beyond that is icing on the cake.
    I'm delighted to see more pictures of your sweet, beautiful family. Why do girls always seem to look forward to the start of school more than boys? I always dreaded it! I wish all your school age grands a safe, happy and productive year and happy Middle Child Day to your lovely daughter Jill!
    I also want to thank you for being such a great friend to me, Jeanie. Your support is deeply appreciated. Have a wonderful week!
  2. How very interesting. I have heard that middle children feel a bit different because they aren't given all that responsibility and aren't babied or something like that. Your family is all so beautiful.
  3. There is not a better soul on earth than a middle child. My sister is one and she deserves a special day.
    I do remember the day she learned she needed glasses and came home wondering when she would get her seeing-eye-dog.
  4. I love what you found on Betty's blog! And how sweet these kids are - I never thought about middle children. As an only, I guess I figured everyone was more or less the same -- till I grew up and realized my youngest cousin with two sibs had very few baby pix of herself!
  6. My husband is a middle child. I am a first born. I don't know the significance of any of this, but am grateful that I never got the hand me down clothing. Lol.
  7. Love the quote. I should have it framed and hung on my wall at the office!
  9. Just popping in, after a long day. Hope you are doing well.
    Love seeing your grandkids and how they are growing up so fast. Anna is a cutie!
    I'm an oldest child, but I do believe middle children don't get as much attention as the others do.
  10. That is a good "prayer". I'm going to "Pin" it on Pinterest to help remind myself to lighten up when needed.
    You have the cutest grandkids! OMGosh, I swear they get more adorable with every photo.
    Lucky Beck gets to keep playing ball. Good for him. His time will come soon enough.
    I haven't been blogging much lately either. I think I'm holding on to summer for as long as I can. Godson starts school on Monday.
    Take care, xo jj
  13. Gosh - That's what I think every morning, Jeanie. Hope your cute grandkids and mine, too, have great school years. Tomorrow, we are babysitting in Evergreen while our son and D-i-L attend teacher open house. All are now back to school. My Denver Grands must be sweltering! Here in the mts it's been cool with daily rain.
