1. July 24th is Amelia Earhart Day. Earhart was the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. What's something you've recently accomplished solo?
I'm not sure I can really call it an accomplishment, but I enjoy traveling solo sometimes. I have traveled to London by myself, to Mexico several times and to several cities in the U.S. I hope to go back to London by myself in the next year and then have my friend Patty join me to take the Chunnel to Paris.
2. What's one product you use that never ever fails?
I love that I can go to a Starbucks anywhere in the world and order my usual half-flavor skinny vanilla latte and know that it will be exactly what I want (though the prices vary).
3. Have you found your place in the world? Where is it?
As far as my physical place in the world, I have lived in Colorado for 30 years and will be happy to spend the rest of my life here. As to my place as a person, I am very happy being a mother, grandmother, partner and friend to the people in my life.
4. Worst movie you ever saw?
In the early 1960s my cousin and I used to visit my grandmother in a small town. There was one movie theater in town and we usually saw whatever was showing at that theater at least three times during the week. One summer the movie was Circus of Horrors, a movie about a circus in which the performers were all people with horrible facial disfigurement. However "horror"ful the movie was, it had a beautiful theme song called "Look For A Star".
5. What's the last fun thing you did?
Just a few minutes ago I booked tickets for Doc and I to go to Las Vegas with friends in October. The actual booking wasn't that fun, but it is always fun for me to have a trip with friends to look forward to.
6. The month of July is named for Roman Emperor Julius Caesar...ever been to Rome? What's your favorite Italian dish?
I have been to Rome and would love to go back. I can't say I have a favorite Italian dish but I can always find something I really like at a good Italian restaurant.
I think Kate will have more than enough advice. I just hope she will be given privacy to enjoy her new baby.

THANK YOU for hosting Wednesday Hodgepodge every week.
Hi, Jeanie! Is Wednesday Hodgepodge replacing Wordless Wednesday? :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's terrific that you enjoy traveling to distant places by yourself. In doing so you experience those destinations differently and I would think more purely than you would if you were distracted by traveling companions.
Circus of Horrors is one of my favorite "so bad it's great" movies and I actually have a post about it coming up. I agree that the theme song, "Look For a Star," is beautiful but chilling in the context of the murder and mayhem that unfolds on the screen. Nearly identical 45 rpm versions of "Look for a Star" were released simultaneously in 1960 by two different artists with nearly identical names: Garry Mills and Garry Miles. Confusing!
Thanks for revealing more about yourself this morning, dear Jeanie, and have a Wonderful Wednesday!
have fun in Vegas.....love learning new about my blog pals..
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun meme! I like learning even more about you than I already knew!
ReplyDeleteI have not seen Circus of Horrors - but it does not sound so good! lol sandie
ReplyDeleteTraveling alone is an accomplishment, and not because flying, or grabbing taxis, or whatever is hard, BUT sitting alone at a dinner - or going to a museum alone is. Congrats for getting right out there - and enjoying yourself!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was single, I traveled around the world by myself. It took me 7 years to return home to Hawaii. No regrets. But I now prefer to travel with my husband, because he is tall and strong enough to help me cope physically. I enjoyed reading your responses to this meme, Jeanie.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanie - your off again on a trip in Oct. I have a small one planned for Sept - a bike tour with Bob to celebrate our anniversary which is in Aug. Sam is here - just waking up from a nap - gotta go!
ReplyDeleteI think traveling alone could be called an accomplishment. Not everyone would do it. I would love a trip by myself right now! :-)
ReplyDeleteNot everyone is comfortable traveling alone, so yes I think that's an accomplishment. I'm trekking to SC on my own today. I prefer to have hubs along to deal with all the airport navigation, but I do this a lot so I know I can.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend! It was fun to see you in the HP this week!
Love living in Colorado too... LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou've been some "far places" traveling alone. Very impressive. I think you're full of surprises. Who knew? *smile
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun meme. I loved all your answers and pondered what mine might be.
