I think I may have figured out why grandmothers often end up being a little.....less than thin. It is because they are grandmothers. At least in my case that is where I am placing the blame.
No, it is not because I am such a wonderful grandmother that I cook wonderful comfort food meals for them or lovingly bake cookies with them . It is because I am a sucker for every school, Girl Scouts or sports team fundraiser that comes along, all of which involve food.
Right now I have bags of frozen cookie dough in my freezer from a school fundraiser back in the fall. In the last couple of months there have been several fundraisers at restaurants that seem to specialize in burgers, fries and shakes. I am currently awaiting the delivery of I don't know how many boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Tomorrow night it will be a fund raising dinner at Chick-Fil-A where I especially like the fries and sweet tea.
I expect spring will bring the selling of chocolate bars for some team or another. (I prefer the ones with almonds.)
So, if I get really fat it is just because a grandmom has to do what a grandmom has to do.
I hear you!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least now I can say to other door to door little darlings...I already bought it from my Granddaughters (o:
I hear you, too! You're just doing your job, right?
ReplyDeleteLove this post!
Wow, what a relief, I thought I was less than thin because I didn't exercise!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I just bought a sheet of tickets for Domino Pizzas 2 for 1 from our granddaughter for school. It should fatten us up.
ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S why I'm fat! I have 7 grandchildren and another one due in a week or so! I don't stand a chance. lol
ReplyDeleteCute! I wish I could use the same reasoning, but since my grandson is long-distance -- and not yet 3 -- I'd be a liar ... a big, FAT liar.
ReplyDeleteGet the bags of cookie dough out of the freezer and make up a bunch of cookies and take them to your local fire department and police station. You have more room in your freezer that way and you can add some pieces of fruit in a basket and show the emergency responders they are appreciated.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth! Just had my Girl Scout cookies and ate them too.
ReplyDeleteYep, I figured this out a long time ago. Of course my oldest grandson is 16 so I've had a while to plot this out especially since I have eight of the little food pushin' devils. Heeehehe!!! Not really they are all sweethearts.
ReplyDeleteHere it comes....are ya ready...My Sunday School class and Kid's Church are very well fed!!!
God bless ya and have a beautiful day sweetie!!! :o)
Can I just have your dozens of cookies on your pantry instead? Just kidding!
ReplyDeleteWell I like your story so I think I will stick to it too!!
ReplyDeleteSorry if I give you a different view, but I'm Gutsy and I can't keep my mouth shut. As you know I've lived in Paris, I've lifted weights for 28 years, and I have to say, "NO!" I'll buy the cookies to help, but I won't eat fast food. I've worked out for too many years and want to stay a fit Grandma, when that day comes. Who knows I might change, but for now, that's my message. I might still have some French attitude!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very legitimate excuse to me : )
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter does not live in Hawaii near me. HOWEVER, I just finished the money-making box of chocolate covered raisins that our neighbor's grandchildren sold to us. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am laughing like crazy. It's grandmothers, maybe. But it's also every kid of your co-worker who sells bad candy, pizza, cookie dough, popcorn and cookies. The only one I miss when they age out is the Sally Foster wrapping paper!
