It's not that I attend a lot of events for which hats are de rigueur, but if the opportunity presented I would love to be able to don a chapeau without feeling like I look, well, just plain silly.
Remember Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. She had a hat wearing talent that I am definitely missing.
All those women at the Kentucky Derby have a way of making even silly hats look elegant.
Lady Gaga sometimes wears really outlandish hats, but I think she looks pretty cute in this captain's hat.
I don't think this hat that Aretha Franklin wore to the most recent presidential inauguration would be my first choice, but I give her credit for being brave enough to wear it.
For my money, nobody did more for a hat than Jackie Kennedy.
As much as I would like to be able to be an elegant hat wearer, I guess I have to look on the bright side....I don't have to worry about "hat hair" and all the fashion concerns of being The Queen are not in my future.
Such a clever post. As a child I won a contest for being the one who looked best in a hat, but no more. I try and try, even the sport caps, but to no avail. If it came back in style I suppose I would dare myself to go for it, but at this point, with no one else wearing hats, I would look like a "fool". In my opinion, that is.
ReplyDeleteMy younger daughter wears hats, all kinds. And she looks great in them. Like you, I try hats but do not feel comfy in them. Cute post though, and I like the fun pictures in the post. Audrey Hepburn is still a good memory for me. I liked everything she was in.
ReplyDeleteI am not a hat person. I know I should wear one when I am working outside, but they are so hot! My mother wore hats to church all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh please don't hate me but I can don a hat with the best of 'em. I love hats, I just wish they were in-vogue again and the hillbillies wouldn't stare. Heeehehehhe! A most creative post girl, totally great.
ReplyDeleteYa'll have a super day heaped full of blessings! :o)
Love this post! I am with you about hats! I always get "hat hair" or a "headache". You found some great pictures!
ReplyDeleteVery clever post!
Hi there, I'm so with you-never been able to look good in a hat so I don't wear them very much, unless I'm painting and don't want paint in my hair. I would love to wear them but I do have two daughters who look incredible in hats.
ReplyDeleteWe made it to Celestials today and it was so fun! Have a wonderful and somewhat windy weekend-at least it is cooler so that should help the firefighters win the battle.
Hugs, Noreen
I have never been a hat person...with curly hair...hats are pretty unforgivable. I do were a baseball cap on a bad hair day while camping (o:
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be able to wear hats, but I look horrible even in baseball caps and those cute wide rimmed sun hats for working in the yard. One day I put on one of the cutest garden hats, and both grandsons started laughing and said that I looked funny! I think it must have something to do with the shape of one's face.
ReplyDeletethis is really embarassing to admit but I have a big head so the "average" hat doesn't fit on my head although I would love to wear hats. oh well, I did hear a story that the size of your head may or may not determine if you get Alzheimer's disease (bigger head less likely), so maybe there's hope......

I like the idea of hats and I have a few but I never wear them as I do NOT look good in them.
ReplyDeleteStraw hats are about as far as I go with hat wearing. In the winter, if I know I won't see anybody or when I'm walking the dog, I wear a wool had. Otherwise, ear muffs are my winter head gear.
ReplyDeleteI hear you! I would love to be able to wear wonderful hats, but I don't look good in them. Ear muffs are my winter "hat" of choice.
ReplyDeleteI love hats too, but never wear them.
ReplyDeleteI have quite a hat collection and wear them all the time...big brims, small brims...straw, felt...love them all...my daughter also...maybe it runs in families...
ReplyDeleteI love hats....I think I was born in the wrong era...my daughter looks adorable in hats...
ReplyDeleteI love hats. Mostly baseball ones of course. Even though I have more than I need, I am always keeping my eyes out for another. I wear a hat more often than I don't.
