My oldest daughter, Jill, and her family spent a few days before school started at a really great place, the YMCA of the Rockies. It is kind of like camp for the whole family. I really wanted to get something posted besides those old picutres of me, and I thought the picture above was a fun one. (Do you love or hate the old Village People song.?)
They stayed in a small, rustic cabin, they were allowed to bring their dog along, and they had all kinds of fun things to do.
Fishing in a beautiful setting
Elk joining them at their picnic spot Cool crafts And everyone's favorite, archery |
September is just around the corner and YMCA of the Rockies will soon be covered with snow, but next summer I want to sing YMCA just like the Village People and have my picture taken with that statue.
I love the YMCA of the Rockies. I have been to many retreats there and Estes Park is one of my favorite places.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun thing to do as a family!! looks like a lot of different activities to appeal to everyone too! Personally, I always enjoy singing along with that song and doing the hand motions :)

This looks like a great place and that statue is cute. But now I will be singing the song all day - I like the song but not in my head allllllll day.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I just told my daughter recently to check into YMCA here or close by, remembering back in the day when they had many programs for kids and an indoor swimming pool. I haven't heard of a camp in this area, though of course you can rent cabins. This looks like such great family fun, and something they will always remember. I love statues like that, and wonder if that statue is done by the same artist who did the ones in Loveland, Co. Also, I, too, like the song as it is one that brings generations together...even my grandkids are familiar with it! (And I, personally, loved the old photos of you!)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing you in the picture with that statue.
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing about us! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of the crafts and archery--great photos! @Wander to the Wayside: yes, the statue is done by the same artist who has statues in Loveland.
ReplyDeleteI loved the "Village People". That song is stuck in MY head as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand place to be as a child. Growing up in Norway, I used to be very involved in YWCA; many good memories from that time in my life.
Oh girl, don't ya know I love to sing the YMCA with all the actions....I'm embarrassing like that! Heeehehehehhe! What a fabulous place to take the kiddos on vacation. It looks like their havin' a blast.
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya and have a beautiful day sweetie!!!
Looks like a great vacay!! The summer is coming to an end and we should enjoy and make the most of these beautiful days and evenings.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is a delight!
ReplyDeleteAs for that song, no matter what you think of it, it's catchy!
I loved that song!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the kids is lovely.
Love the YMCA picture. I'm okay with the song, but it never needs to be played at another wedding or Bar Mitzvah or any other such occasion.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard about this place. It sounds like so much fun!!
