It Was No Picnic

Thanks to less than perfect weather, our traditional Mother's Day picnic in the park was not a picnic at all this year. It was, however, a very nice indoor celebration that even snow on Mother's Day couldn't spoil.

The kids definitely had a good time....well, maybe this wasn't all that fun for Wil on the bottom.

In addition to Mother's Day we celebrated the five May birthdays in our family.

My oldest grandson, Jared, 13, insisted that he is now as tall I am.
I think he as about a 1/2 inch to go. It won't take long.

I did miss getting my annual picture with my grandkids on the slide at the park but the stairs
worked pretty well.

I hope Mother's Day was bright and shiny where you are.

  1. Hi, Jeanie! I was watching the news yesterday, saw the story about winter storm watches and warnings in Colorado and thought about you. I'm sorry the weather wasn't to your liking, but I can tell it didn't dampen your family's spirits or prevent you from having a joyous Mother's Day celebration. I am delighted to see these pictures of you and your grands looking so healthy and happy. Happy birthday to the five in your family who turn a year older this month. Mrs. Shady and my own granddaughter also have birthdays in May.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Jeanie!

  5. Love your photos. Those kids are growing up. We had snow also. I told my daughter not to drive down from her home near where you live. I didn't want to worry about her out on the road.

  6. I love the picture of them on the steps! I do remember your posting from before on the slide. I also did see that Colorado had less than idea weather for Mother's Day; that was a shame! But it looks like the gathering was a great one all in all!

It's a record-breaking 102 degrees here today. Snow sounds good to me right about now.

  12. Our family photos usually happen at Easter and Christmas. Since our wedding anniversary was on Mother's Day this year, we spent the week-end in Tulsa.

  16. We haven't had snow this month (thankfully!), but we do still have our heat on which is no fun at all. Glad you made the most of a weather-challenged Mother's Day!
