This may not be news to people who go to the movies more often than I do but it was new to me. I am taking my 13 year old grandson to a movie this afternoon and my daughter alerted me to the Runpee app, an app that alerts you to the best time for a dash to the bathroom during a movie.

I haven't used it yet or even thoroughly researched it, but from what I can tell it allows you to set your phone to give you a couple of warning vibrations and then a final vibration that lets you know it is time to go without worrying about missing any critical scenes or parts of the plot line. It then allows you to read notes about what your are missing while you are gone, hopefully while you are running down the hall rather than when you are actually using the facilities. It also lets you know how much time you have to, uh, take care of business and get back to the theater.
Even if you aren't one who drinks those giant movie drinks this app sounds like it might be pretty handy for the pees-a-lot crowd of which I am a member. For .$99 I may have my grandson download it on our way to the movie. You gotta love technology!
Hi, Jeanie! Another funny post from you, dear friend. I'm loving it! Well, what will they think of next? I never heard of this kind of app but I have a feeling it will catch on. The problem with me is that I can't cry (or do certain other things) on cue, and I can picture myself experiencing performance anxiety in the restroom and not making it back in time to see whodunnit.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the movie and let us know if you used the app and if it worked for you!
I love it! This is hilarious and practical.
ReplyDeleteWho Knew?! This is great, especially for those of us that are in this group. I also think it would help for really long movies as well. Thanks for giving us a heads up.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
Good luck with that app. Lol. I prefer to watch DVDs that can be paused for breaks.
ReplyDeleteOn the news last night, they said there is now an app that wakes you up to the sound and smell of frying bacon! I'm shaking my head here in Breckenridge! (I think I'll make real bacon for my Grandkids tomorrow.) Hope you enjoyed the movie.
ReplyDeleteThat's usually not an issue for me but I know someone who is gonna LOVE this - our oldest daughter. Gonna pass this info her way. Too funny! Apps have now joined us in the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have not heard of this App and while we rarely (if ever) go to movies these days, I do remember having to go to the bathroom during a movie and trying to figure out when the best time would go. I love an App that tells me when and then fills me in on what I'm missing. Kudos to whoever designed that!

Last night I was telling my son that I didn't like to go to movies anymore because I didn't have a "pause' button to use in the theater., If I had this app it would take away my need for one. lol
ReplyDelete99 dollars or cents? Either way, sounds like a pretty good thing for the movie goer! My phone isn't smart. In fact, it barely counts as a cell phone! But I'm going to share this with several hard-core movie going friends. And someday if I ever tech up, I'll add that one!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like there is an app for literally anything one can think of.
ReplyDeleteboy they think of everything these days...
ReplyDeleteI'd heard of that app. The problem with the app could be that if it becomes popular it would be hard to get in and out of the restroom in a hurry. ;)
ReplyDeleteHoly moly. Now, I do believe I've heard of everything. What WILL they come up with next?
ReplyDelete$99 ! That is a lot to spend to go pee at the 'right' time! I never need to pee during a movie, lucky me I say!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many other people do that, and there ends up a queue at the bathroom!
Ha! Runpee is a total hoot! My husband is in the movie biz and he's never heard of it either... but believe me, since most of his films are targeted to "adults" (over 40 - translation, the crowd that usually needs to runpee) I'm guessing he'll be looking into it to make sure his movie "runpee" times are correct.
ReplyDeleteWhat will they think of next!
Have a great weekend. xo jj
Somebody had waaaay too much time on their hands to come up with this ap. Now they're making money off of our lack of bladder control. What a country!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite apps!! It is just 99 cents. Or you can download the AMC app for free and it is part of their app. As a member of the "pees a lot" crowd, I have made good use of it!! : )
