Six Word Saturday

They'll be eating kale chips later

I had to laugh about what my daughter said about this picture she posted on Facebook yesterday.

Waiting for the Fabulous Fridays show to start at the library! I'll just ignore the disapproving looks of the moms with their healthy snacks while my kids chomp on their suckers. We'll have our organic kale chips later ladies, I promise!

Not to worry....these kids eat (or are at least offered) a very healthy diet. That may change when I stay with them for a week next month. I've told them we are having only Popsicles for breakfast and lunch every day.

  1. Suckers and kale chips sounds like a balanced diet to me ;-)
How great you get to spend time with and spoil the kids a bit next month. That'll be a blast for you all.
And it goes without say, but TAKE YOUR CAMERA!

  5. Too funny!!!! Actually, I am in agreement that sometimes the kiddos need something special. My youngest daughter's hubby is leaving today to go to Denmark and Germany for a week long business trip. The kids are sad that daddy will be gone, so tonight we will have a bonfire and roast marshmallows. With our diet that excludes Gluten, we occasionally need to be bad and have something outrageous.

  6. I had to laugh, too. I am not the disapproving mommy (or grammy) type.

  8. That's funny. They have such beautiful smiles.

I let my grandson eat his dessert before his dinner. Grandma's prerogative.

  10. We have to say you are right on track. Ron always wants the grands to have strawberry ice cream cones for breakfast because that is milk and fruit and grain so what could be better?

  11. We were vegetarians as my kids grew up and they ate very healthfully. But, they also got lots of treats. Best of both worlds.

  12. When I was a kid we would have one evening meal each summer for just corn on the cob and another for just strawberry shortcake. This was connected to the quantity of food harvested at my grandparents farm... I stillsometimes do it, though the strawberries come from the market and they are never so good. They will be just fine!

  13. Suckers were one thing my mother allowed us to have on Halloween. The rest of the stash we collected, such as caramel and other sticky candies bad for our teeth, went into the trash can. Lol.

  14. I vote for suckers. A kid needs a certain amount of them for a truly healthy childhood. Really, I think we can go overboard in trying to control the eating of our children. A little sugar won't hurt.

  15. They look beautiful and healthy! It's when you find a shoebox full of Snickers in their closets that one has to worry. I always made pancakes for dinner when the dad was out of town! Enjoy your month-long vacay with those grandbabies! I'll be thinking of you!

  16. Kale chips are over-rated.

  19. Suckers help create a balanced diet for Grandlittles.

I'm certain someone told me that more than once!
