My youngest daughter, Joanna, and her mother-in-law, Terry, ran a half-marathon in Phoenix on Sunday. I wasn't at all surprised that they did great, both finishing in under 2 1/2 hours. I was surprised at the before and after pictures. After the race they looked like they had just finished a walk in the park instead of a 13.1 mile run.
Before
After
They had planned to run a race in Denver in October but Joanna ended up with a fracture in her foot a few weeks before the race. She was very disappointed and not too happy to be wearing an orthopedic boot instead of her running shoes. Her husband Brandon's dad came to the rescue and for Christmas gave them the trip to Phoenix for the race on Sunday, so they got to have a short, well-deserved girl's get-away and got to run their race.
I think I looked more worn out after tracking them online than they did after finishing the race.
Way to go Joanna and Terry.
Gosh - Can I say I am jealous in a very sweet way - gorgeous before AND after. sandie
ReplyDeletethat is so awesome...I've never been a runner....my hubby used to run alot...his knees won't let him anymore..
ReplyDeleteCan't believe they finished a 13+ mile race looking like that. Way to go, girls! I ran for less than a year and then had to give it up because it caused chest pain. I miss the camaraderie of healthy, happy runners.
ReplyDeleteGood for them and I hear the pride in your voice :) I use to run half marathons prior to knee injuries so I know what a feat it is! Congrats!
ReplyDeletego figure--I am embracing my inner old woman. I would not have finished and at mile whatever I probably would have thrown up and got hives.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up! They do look quite fresh, as if they could have kept running. That trip was a lovely gift.
ReplyDeleteGood for them! I'm always impressed by people who do things like this. It takes great dedication.
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous! Way to go! I so admire the motivation and persistence of runners. Congrats to both on the great finish!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am amazed.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite an achievement!
ReplyDeleteWhat beauties those two are in both the befores and afters. Heck, I wouldn't even want to think what I'd look like after a 13 mile run.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is it wouldn't be a pretty sight!!! Heeehehehhe!
Have yourself a marvelously blessed and beautiful day sweetie!!! :o)
Oh my, they look fabulous. Wish I'd taken up some form of serious exercise years ago!
