My pictures aren't great.....they were going too fast. Fortunately none of my fears about broken bones, etc., came to pass.
The birthday boy, Beck, left the Mattress Surfing to the big kids.
His first ever birthday cake was plenty of fun for him.

Mattress Surfing
No matter how many toys they have kids seem to have the most fun with things they devise for themselves. My grandkids have of late picked up Mattress Surfing as their favorite sport when we have family get-togethers at my youngest daughter's house. At a recent party for my youngest grandson's first birthday, all it took was an old crib mattress and a long flight of basement stairs to keep the bigger kids entertained.

Ah, all the fancy toys we get our kids, and the bells and whistles. All you need for them really are a mattress and cake. And life is perfect. Works for me! You got what was necessary in those pics---kids you love happily doing their thing.

ReplyDeleteThis brought back memories, Jeanie. When I was growing up, we had a two story house with wooden stairs. We would always grab a quilt and sled down the stairs (when my mom wasn't home because she didn't like us to do it, I'm sure she was worried we would get killed). It was so much fun! Somehow though, she always knew we did it.......

Oh lordy, my hubby would have a heart attack if he saw kids mattress surfing on the stairs. But if they are able to hang on and not tumble off the mattress, they aren't likely to get hurt, right? It looks like a ton of fun!
